Message from the Founders

Dear Friends,

This year has been truly exceptional for Turn the Corner Foundation (TTC). I would like to thank all of our volunteers, donors and sponsors who have made 2007 our most successful year of fundraising to date. This will, no doubt, translate into the funding of more groundbreaking programs that serve to find a cure for Lyme disease and educate the public on the dangers of this epidemic.

TTC’s second annual fundraising gala, Unmask A Cure, was a huge success and exceeded even our greatest of expectations. The gala raised over $1.1 million to further our mission to support research, education, awareness and innovative treatments for Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases. The energy at the gala was unforgettable and it was amazing to see so many concerned people come together to support programs for Lyme disease. I was extremely honored to be a part of such an inspiring evening that shined a bright light on the enormous and growing movement to find a cure. I hope that you will continue to support this movement in 2008.

Looking back, 2007 brought us the opportunity to partner with several innovative programs in Lyme disease research and education that have yielded promising results on the path to finding a cure, such as our partnership with Genesis Laboratories and the Lyme and Autism Foundation. TTC also saw its own programs in Lyme disease education flourish. It has been incredibly fulfilling to watch the participants of the Physicians Training Program and the Lyme Educational Awareness Development Series (LEADS) succeed in treating patients with their newfound Lyme-literacy and educate their communities on Lyme disease, respectively. We are excited to announce that ABC Network has given TTC Advisory Board member, Brooke Landau, a Lyme disease blog on their website and TTC will be featured as one of the top Lyme disease resources. Stay tuned for more information on this front!

I believe that 2008 is going to be our most prolific year thus far and I am looking forward to working together with you to ensure that we will find a cure for this severely debilitating illness. We have exciting news on this front in that TTC has recently partnered with Open Eye Productions to fund their film UNDER OUR SKIN, a documentary that follows people’s experiences with Lyme disease and discusses the epidemics history. This film is certain to open the eyes of people around the world to the Lyme disease epidemic and how important it is to fund research to find a cure. We are tremendously excited about this partnership and look forward to updating you on this project as the year progresses.

In closing, I would like to recognize three members of our Board of Directors that are working tirelessly to take TTC to the next level and will surely be integral to the Foundation achieving its goals in 2008 and beyond. Tula Karras, Marketing Committee Chair; David Reichenbaum, Granting Committee Chair; and Charles Balducci, Fundraising Committee Chair have all gone above and beyond in their commitment to TTC and I would like to give them a special thanks for all that they do for the Foundation.

I look forward to working together in 2008 to support our mission. It is destined to be a historic year in the world of Lyme disease research and education, thanks to your continuing contributions. I hope to see you at the third annual fundraising gala, Unmask A Cure, in November of 2008! Until then, please visit www.turnthecorner.org to stay updated on our progress in the fight against Lyme disease.

Sincerely,
Staci Grodin
Co-Founder and President
