Message from the Founders
Recapping a Tremendous Year...
I am amazed by the significant progress in Lyme research
and education that has been facilitated by the Turn
the Corner Foundation since 2002. We have
been able to raise awareness to millions of people through
extensive media campaigns and physicians training programs.
Many people do not know how widespread the Lyme disease
epidemic is and the likely chance that someone they know
may be affected. Lyme disease is a drastically growing
vector-borne illness. Lyme
disease may be difficult to diagnose because many of its
symptoms mimic those of other disorders. Many people
afflicted with this disease find themselves going from
doctor to doctor wondering what is wrong with them.
Diagnoses can be confirmed based on a clinical assessment
and proper blood tests from a Lyme-literate doctor. We
recently interviewed Chris
Beach, who details her frustrating story
of living with Lyme disease for seven years before learning
about Turn the Corner, which helped steer her in the right
direction to be tested and visit a Lyme-literate doctor.
